Frequently Asked Questions — Puzzles
How many puzzle pieces should my child be doing at their age?
As a general guide: around 2 years old, 3–10 large "jumbo knob" pieces is a good start; by 2½–3 years, 12–24 piece puzzles with large interlocking pieces; by 4 years, 20–40 pieces; and from 5+ years, 48–60+ piece puzzles add more challenge. These are rough ranges — go by your child's current comfort level rather than strictly by age.
What's the benefit of puzzles beyond just entertainment?
Puzzles build hand-eye coordination, shape recognition, problem-solving, and patience — skills that carry over well into early learning. Frank & Co.'s educational range also often ties pieces to themes like numbers, letters, or animals for extra learning value.
My child gets frustrated with puzzles — should I go easier or keep pushing?
Drop down a size rather than push through frustration — a puzzle that's genuinely too advanced teaches frustration more than problem-solving. It's fine to revisit a harder one later once they've built confidence on an easier level.
